Merthur.
Merlin likes neckerchiefs, yeah?
In most of the early episodes in Series 1, he doesn’t wear one (he does sometimes).
Then he starts wearing them pretty much everywhere.
Why?
Merlin’s manservant status was upgraded to Arthur’s bedwarmer.
Arthur likes necks.
Merlin hides Arthur’s love bites—or Merlin’s “Royal Branding” as Arthur would like to call it.
So he uses neckerchiefs.
Ta-da. Voila.
